Letter from Colin

Dear Community,

I’m so truly excited about the initiatives of support that we’ll be undertaking as we move together through this year. We couldn’t do any of this without the caring and commitment of each and every one of you. It is our community and our love for its children – our own and each other’s – that drives us forward. This love and sense of belonging was of course on clear display during our Winter Ball. It meant so much to see you all there, to meet and to share in the trials and the successes, the love and the hope that our children teach us daily. Thank you to all who were able to make it.

I really do believe that in learning how to care for and support our children and adults with ID/D, and asking others to join us, we make this world a better place. With that belief in mind, we feel that the most effective and meaningful way we can support our community in the immediate future while the Foundation is beginning its journey, is to provide essential support to pre-existing programs around the country whose projects are aligned with the Foundation’s core purpose.

This is why we are so happy to announce that we are working to finalize our grant application process, which will result in our ability to immediately help the mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters and the many community leaders who are doing extraordinary and important work through various organizations and outreach programs within our ID/D communities across America. As our experience as a Foundation grows and our connections afford us the opportunity to team up with other organizations, we will continue to pursue our dream, which has always been to make a difference in the area of residential care for our young adults. So greatly needed.

So again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for the strength and bond of our shared care for each other. Thank you for the hope that we carry together. It is ultimately the fuel that keeps us all going.

Love to one and all,

Colin
